Legendary WA prospector Mark Creasy has unveiled one of the biggest discoveries of his long career, opening the wrapper on a monster 11.5 million ounce gold discovery in South Africa this afternoon.
Mr Creasy's White River Exploration this afternoon unveiled its initial resource on a giant discovery in South Africa’s Witwatersrand Basin, claiming the project is one of the world’s largest unmined high-grade gold resources.
The project, a joint venture with South Africa’s Harmony Gold Mining, contains 11.5 million ounces at an average grade of 8.9 grams a tonne gold.
White River controls 65 per cent of the project, and Mr Creasy’s privately-held resources company, Creasy Group, holds 64 per cent of White River. Black economic empowerment groups own 26 per cent of the South African explorer.
White River executive director Neil Warburton is in London today marketing the discovery ahead of a planned float on the London Stock Exchange. He said in a statement the project still had enormous potential, outside of the existing initial resource.
